Forum: GratefulDead Subject: William Tell's Thanks

Many have taken a moment to offer up their heartfelt Holiday wishes…I glanced back over posts in my short six week tenure to glean the following A to Z of thanks. I apologize in advance for leaving folks out, but I don’t have the skills to go back and gather information over and above what I found in the age thread…

Ashes and Arbuthnot—two literary souls that made me feel welcome right from the start…as a lurker I often confused them, and I anxiously await the return of Ashes and the next bit of wisdom and prose from Arbuthnot.

Bluedevil and BryanE, two times two score and three tenths yrs young and working in radio, respectively; insights from a job we can all envy, and interests in the yellow dog story.

Cosmic (never would have guessed your age) helped with many a query; Cranky the teacher almost as experienced (shy a month or two?); Cush the bookseller taking care of his kid brother canine (directed me to May, 77); and CLIFF ALL CAPS HUCKER sticking to his early era guns. Finally, Cream Puff knows his Saint Stephens and shared a great deal on the man…

Dancinbears (the first one to respond to my post), Dire (can I forget September, 87?), Deadmax, Daliguana, and Dalitrauma: the D’s make a run on the 30s agewise, and often remind us of the joy of the 70s and 80s. whether nursing student, writer, new careerist, or recovering watchdog, a relatively open and supportive group of d deads you’d be hard pressed to find. The Doctors, both F and O, speak for themselves, and both offer detail, and their love of analysis to all that will listen. There should be so many Dead Ds; alphabet karma demands it.

Earl quick with a detailed explanation, Elkdog half the Earl’s age and yet equally a student of deep philosophical concerns.

High Flow (how can you top hanging with Walton and getting high with the boys?).

JOTS thinks Festival Express is a great movie, and who can argue?

JodyC (welcomed me aboard the ship of fools; loves Pigs sense of humor), Jim Henderson signs off as Jim and always makes me think of Jimi…

Max Chorak, the youngest of the young, lost & found, but no doubt well in SF.

McGlone was the first to share music with me, and the first to share his sense of respectful behavior…

Old NJ Head and the details of 73.

Pat Kelly with an incisive wit.

Purple Gel loves Anthem of the Sun and put me on to 22 Jan 78.

Robony and RobtheWordSmith are two of a kind and as different as any separated by a great divide…if only Rob would’ve written this I’d be getting a lot more respect.

SDH, sharing coffee and tales of the wife, son and all the rest; a unifying family interest.

Syd the cat: another anthem fan…and one for Barrett.

Tigerbolt, truly the Trader’s Little Helper.

Thanks all--thanks for keeping it interesting, and for keeping me around. Enjoy yourselves and your families, whatever and wherever they may be.

Aw, crap. Now you've made me cry. Seriously, very kind words well spoken and with tremendous punctuation. Now, everyone else out there, please don't expect me to go through as detailed an honoring of y'all. Those who deserve it know it, and by knowing it, get it.

Good Will-
You are right on target with where I would strive to be should I ever achieve some level of measurable success in the great field of fellowship: thoughtful, remembering, and present of mind. I wish you well!

Take good care of those puppies, and yourself as we move into Grok time and the New Year. Appreciate your well reasoned positions, and tidbits on the entertainment world and personalities.

William Tell has stretched his bow!!

Thank you, cat!

My heartfelt wishes for a beautiful New Year for you. I'll spin Anthem for you on my annual New Year's "trip" and think about how I'd like to smoke a sparkie with ya someday and play the good, good stuff that is the late sixties. Oooooo that would be fun. I have a fond memory of doing that with a pal when I had just come into possesion of the Pow Wow shows. What a night! I'll spin some Ark on NYE and we'll talk about Hollywood and the good things there for hire if you know what I mean (big Neil and Springfield fan here).

Keep on rockin' in the New Year!

I have to do a post like this before Christmas done come and gone my oh my.

Hey Syd--waited til now to respond only because I liked seeing your response as the last item in this thread...something about the visual...it really was nice to read your words here at the end...

Any way--great, great catching up with you here--we will always have the original Syd to bind us, plus the Dead. What a combo, eh? In the words of Bill G, Syd was an honorary member of the San Francisco Society if ever there was an honorary member...

Take care, cat!

Spoken so well
By our friend William Tell.
Lots of fun folks here
Who bring us all daily cheer.
Too bad the distance between us is miles apart
So the Grateful Grok is a pretty good start.
Lets make believe we're all at one show
except this time no acid no shrooms and no blow.
Those wild show daze we know from our past
Are nothing but memories but always will last.
This verse went longer than originally thought
So I'll stop now before my ryming is naught.
